NURS 6501 Week 2 Assignment
The case study presented involves a 42-year-old male with redness, swelling, and pain in his right calf after an accident involving a string trimmer hitting his leg. The wound was with water from a garden hose and then with a Band-Aid. The development of fever, chills, and the symptoms were several days later. He has developed cellulitis of his lower extremity resulting from the introduction of bacteria through a wound in his leg. Additionally, he failed to properly cleanse the wound, which only exacerbated his infection risk. The purpose of this paper is to identify why the patient developed the specific symptoms listed, to identify the genes associated with the development of the disease described, and to discuss immunosuppression and its effects on the body.
